Road Construction

New ways to the highways

Roads designed to help cut commit time and ease congestion around Gastonia have been completed or should be opened to the public soon.

The Hudson Boulevard Titman Road and Hoffman Road extensions have been completed.

Rosebud Drive expansion to Hoffman Road has been completed

Construction on the proposed Cox Road extension, a project which covers 2.1 miles, is expected to be complete by December 2001

N.C. 279 from N.C. 7 to North of Long Creek construction will begin in November of 2000. Grading, paving, resurfacing, widening, drainage, curb and gutter, sidewalk, retaining wall, structure and signals.

The Citizens Advisory Committee on Surface Transportation recommends the following:

Small Projects

  • Union Road and Garrison Boulevard, $923,903

  • Franklin Boulevard and Garrison Boulevard, $982,800

  • New Hope Road and Armstrong Park Drive, $464,100

  • Franklin Boulevard and New Hope Road, $241,200

  • Franklin Boulevard and Broad Street, $517,450

Large Projects

  • New Hope Road — Burtonwood Drive to Garrison Boulevard, $1,333,900

  • Titman Road — New Hope Road to Lowell-Bethesda Road, $3,284,200

  • Franklin Boulevard — Cox Road to existing three-lane section, $3,275,290

  • Union Road — Niblick Drive to Osceola Street, $3,573,000
